make for が、『~のために作る』の他に『~へ(急いで)進む』という意味があるのを初めて知りました。

ファーストフード店を答える回答に、オーディオは『Pizza Palace, Chinese Garden, and Chicken Dream.』と回答していて、私は『McDonald’s, Mister Donut etc.』と答えました。

今日のリーディングでStage10Lesson162を音読して、先日完全に理解したはずのイギリスの知識にまた混乱が生じました。”What’s the distinction between the United Kingdom and Great Britain?” “The distinction between the United Kingdom and Great Britain is that the United Kingdom includes Northern Ireland, whereas Great Britain does not.”この日(参照→)に、所謂日本人が呼ぶイギリスの正式名称は“United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”(グレートブリテン及び北アイルランド連合王国)=The UKであり、4つの国で構成された連合国であると再確認。

では、UK(United Kingdom)とGB(Great Britain)の違いは??カランの教科書に記載してあるように北アイルランドを除いたイングランド・ウェールズ・スコットランドの3国のことだそうです。でも、GBは国の名前ではなくいわゆる地理的な、地域を指す言葉のようです(^^)本当にややこしや。また混乱しました私。
